The Australian Country Music People's Choice Awards were established in 2000 by Smoky and Paula Sheldrick of the Australian Country Music Listeners' Association.

Smoky and Paula ran the Awards up to and including 2006, when Smoky's declining health forced the couple to disband the Association.

Rather than let the Awards go, Smoky and Paula passed them on to the Country Music Bulletin, Australia's country music industry magazine run by owners Bob and Leanne Kirchner and Advertising Manager Jim Guider.

The 2010 Australian Country Music People's Choice Awards will be presented this January during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Winners will be announced at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Brisbane Street at 6pm Tuesday, January 19.
